Background:
Gaelan was born after the fall of the first echa dragon riders. He was born to Ildrid Eydis the Beautiful, sister of the echar queen, and Romel Elanessé, a high rank warrior. Growing up he got along with his sister, Rochendilwen, and his cousin, the soon-to-be-queen Brigid Eydis.
He studied magic and swordplay for many years and was respected by his fellow echas for his loyalty to the faeries and his prowess in both magic and blade mastery. It was for this reason that he was chosen to be leader of the group of twelve echas sent to Xenthia to control the dragons that were breaking havoc in the blazing realm. He took his duty very seriously and upon the day of his arriving he has always been alongside dragons, domesticating them and mastering the magics.
There have been murmurings about the possibility of Gaelan becoming a dragon rider and yet he ignores them. The dragon chooses the rider, not the rider the dragon. And so he continues to fight alongside his kin, protecting his realm against everything that comes their way. Currently, he is advocating against the illegal slave trade and works as the head of the army for the realm.
Personality:
Gaelan is a powerful spellcaster amongst his people. This is indicated by the fact that he is the leader of the group of twelve spellcasters sent to protect Echar. While he is young by echa standards he spent the better part of his life learning swordplay and magic and excels in both.
He is not so serious some other echas are meant to be. He has a more ready smile and laugh than many and seems to be moderately social in nature. Still he is an enigma as are all echas and is considered more serious and aloof than most would be.
Gaelan takes his job of guarding Echar very seriously. His loyalty to his people and defeating any other race that decided to fight is well known and he has proven himself in battle time and time again. He seems more concerned than many to the addition of Gui weaponry to the armies of Destina, because they are mainly created by faerie slaves, and he is often seemingly wary and wise beyond his echa years; treating everyone as equal. In battle he kills as mercifully as possible and is a force to be reckoned with.
Strengths:
Gaelan, as I have mentioned, is supremely skilled in magic and sorcery, as well as swordsmanship. He has been training since the early age of 11, and he masters his element with prowess. He is also a very good public speaker and defends human rights, showing respect to all the races. But when an evil force tries to damage the realm of the Echar, he is fierceless and won't hesitate to kill anyone who wants to harm the faerie kingdom.
Gaelan has also been learning the elven language for 5 years, and will soon master it, being one of the few royal members to speak this tongue.
Weaknesses:
Gaelan is very competitive and grudgeful, he has trouble talking about his feelings and, when he becomes angry, he has fits of rage where he loses all control and can harm people around him, either physically or emotionally.
Gaelan is very focused on defending the realm and carrying out journeys to Xenthia, so he lacks aqcuaintances and friends in Echar. His only friends are the other twelve echa magicians that help him control the dragons. Therefore, he has never been romantically involved with anyone, at least on a serious relationship.
