The year is 1031.
King Aldrin Seraphin grows disappointed in his queen after the birth of their daughter rather than the long-awaited son. At twenty nine years old, he is beginning to feel his mortality and his eyes have begun straying to other women in the court. Though he has only been married for a year, the birth of his daughter signals the end of an era throughout Christendom and especially in his own marriage. After ruling for six years, he has become angry, bitter, and nearly tyrannical in his approach to his country and his people.

Anne Havarilli is the court's belle. Clever, manipulative, and deliciously beautiful, she plans to steal the king's heart and attention. But she is not without resources. Across the sea, in Liston, Prince Edward Howard watches as his father is brutally murdered and takes over what he has left behind. Now king, he anxiously awaits for Sundaril to make a horrible mistake and once they do, he will unleash his armies and rip through the country to take what he wants.
He watched the marriage of his sister with clenched teeth and now is bethrothed to the Sundrili princess, Ophelia, out of duty more than any thing else. It is a marriage meant to provide political advantage more than emotional comfort. It is a marriage meant to provide a stepping stone to conquering Sundaril. It is a marriage meant to provide the means to a vicious, violent end.
But their stories are not the only ones
In two courts, myriads of stories bud and bloom. Whether they twist and turn in schemes and blood or whether they grow straight and steady in a pure path is up to the people involved. Scandal is plenty at both courts and with the coming storm, no one doubts it will get far worse. In courts were saying what you don't mean will get you farther than being honest and where anything can change in an instant, how will you survive?
