the Nayeli
»Striker«
Race: Nayeli (Elven)
Age: 2005 (nayeli years), 26-ish (human years)
Gender: Male
Background:
No one knows how the world truly began, not Seron nor anyone else. No matter how many may claim they knew of such a thing. That was nothing but lies. Lies that even from an early age the young Nayeli learned to avoid, to tell the difference between the truth and the liars. Growing up, he was happy, a wonderful mother and father, an older brother he looked up to (both figuratively and literally). Roaming free, living as best as they could. Learning how to use a bow, everything was good, peaceful even. As the years went by, that peace would eventually be shattered. By people who were greedy, using words he was unable to grasp the true meaning of at such a young age. He was still a boy, how was he supposed to know such things? But before long, at the turn of the century, his first century. An important moment for any Nayeli, it was those years that followed that would begin to shape Seron. Not as a boy, but into a fine young man with a natural talent, even if he was a little shy. That shyness was soon tossed aside at least for a brief period, but what truly left him on that fateful night was his hope. Why couldn't everyone just get along? That was one of the few thoughts he remembered having, all before he was tossed into war. A war he never wanted to be apart of.
Yet the choice had already been removed from his hands long before he had even realized it, their queen had ordered it. Even as the fighting began, Seron had to wonder why they had to fight these humans. Yes, they may not have magic, but they were similar beings weren't they? Keeping to the sidelines for the start of the war, it was after Seron witnessed something horrible. An event that would cause his distrust of any human for centuries to come, seeing them brutally hurt another of his kin. It was terrible and it was on this day that the Nayeli killed for the first time. Just a boy and yet war changes people, ages them faster than many often think possible. And by the end of the fighting, the young elven was no longer a child. Instead. A young man, with his own desires, hopes and aims. From then onwards, it was only for a moment, only ever on a battlefield that this Nayeli became someone many would not recognize given his nature.
Over the years that followed, the world changed around him and as it grew. So did Seron. Training, studying and learning everything he could both about his own race. And of those many other beings that lived within the world besides his own kin. It wasn't much, but it was a start. Many a night spent pouring over what information he could find. Only then to go out with his father and train with his bow until he could barely feel his fingers. It was during these days that Seron found himself feeling very lucky to have such a thing. A family like this. Of course, he had his friends outside of his family. But the Nayeli had always been a little bit more of a homebody than someone to go and adventure outdoors. Maybe it was the lack of protection or simply as he grew older, but eventually, he came to grow out of such a habit. Wanting to explore more and more as he aged, but naturally when the opportunity presented itself to kick back and relax, he wasn't going to say no to that.
Of course, leaving Galadia was a dangerous thing and Seron often found his older brother forced to tag along with him. Much to the dismay of the both of them, but after a few times things changed. He was finally permitted to explore as he wished, but never to stray too far from the city. Strict as ever, but the Nayeli obeyed, did as he was told. Well, at least for the first two hundred years anyhow. By that point, his father had long since given up trying to stop the Nayeli's wish to see the world further, away from the protection of the city. To see everything with his own eyes. And oh boy did he ever, travelling from one place to the next. Seeing these people in their homes, it was interesting and he was curious. He couldn't help it. Of course, with time he returned to his homeland, his family and friends within the city. Many tales to be told as to the people he'd met, and all of them were, night after night. Seron was happy to tell such stories, but even as he left to distant lands, his home still stayed with him. Without fail even while away the Nayeli trained each night before bed, his skills were improving, slowly but they were. Especially his magic. Something he was yet to realize he would need soon enough. Things weren't all smooth sailing, he'd seen some of it. The Echas, the Guis. All the arguing. Could no one ever find a solution to all of this? It seemed not.
And as the saying goes, things can only get worse before they get better. And yet again, another war was on the horizon. Yet it wasn't like the bloodshed of old, oh no, this was far worse. Everyone was involved, no matter who or what you were, everyone was a target in one way or another. The Great War. It wasn't a time Seron much enjoyed and even looking back on the events of the past, he still doesn't like to think of it. Nonetheless, he did his duty for his people. Fighting without mercy. It was from these days on the battlefield that Seron became known as the 'Striker'. Incapacitating or killing his targets with as few hits as possible, a single arrow was all it took most of the time for those that came unprepared or those who underestimated his abilities. The magic of the air around him aiding him occasionally when required. It was a war and that meant using everything he had to make sure his arrow hit it's mark. Which it did, for those many years. He fought as much as he could, but every war has it's casualties.
Those casualties being his father and older brother, Seron seeing them both be cut down right before his eyes affected him greatly, even to this day. They perished, yet he remained. It was once the war had finally come to an end that he could finally look back and remember. Spending many a long night, over the months that followed simply sobbing with his mother's embrace and asking why. If they had both died, why hadn't he? How had he been so lucky to survive, for what reason? Was it the Divine Light's doing? He didn't know. Regardless as the years passed after the war ended, people seemed more accepting. More communication, trading and what seemed to be a friendlier world after all. Well mostly, besides the slavery of the Echas that followed years later. There were still tensions there between races, and Seron guessed there always would be. But he had the hope that eventually things would change. And wars, slavery and anything else of the sort would no longer happen. It was wishful thinking yes, but he had always been a bit of a dreamer.
As the years pass, things change. Within the last thirty years, his mother has remarried and while he is happy for her. He isn't much of a fan of his new step-father, a rather well off nobleman at that. Making him what his step-father calls as the young lord, he tends to ignore such formalities. Luckily, he is rarely ever home for long enough to have to tolerate the man for too long. Often travelling between Humeyen and his own home city and while he sometimes goes further into other races homelands. Finding the time to do so isn't as easy as it once was. Now holding a job in the city of Kalas, Seron seems content, if a little distant at times. Still he's doing something he enjoys and his mother is happy and healthy. That's all he can ask for really.

Personality:
Introverted. That is perhaps one of the best words to describe this young man. Seron is the type of person that keeps to himself, holding very few friends, but those he does are true and have been loyal his entire lifetime. He is often the type when not working that you may find tucked away somewhere indoors, or lounging around outdoors during his free time simply laying around (sleeping half the time, he sleeps way too much), or reading. This Nayeli is quite happy with his own company but isn't against spending a day or two with his closest friends either. Everyone needs time to themselves and Seron just naturally needs more of that time to himself than most people do.
Besides his quiet nature, there are many other aspects to this young man that it's nearly impossible to see them all. Just like any being. But one that shines through is his selflessness, willing to put himself out and even in danger to help someone out if asked. This shows especially so when the Nayeli is working, helping out colleague and customer alike to get what they both want and need from what he does. He will help any race and is a firm believer is all races being equal, despite past acts and wars come and gone. It is from this and his parent's upbringing that allows Seron to be what many would consider an extremely polite young man, careful never to overstep his boundaries or anger others. He doesn't enjoy verbal confrontation, but irritate him enough and he can become quite sarcastic towards the person that bothered him. Nonetheless, he's very hard to rile up into anger and the rare times this has happened, tends to leave others in the nearby area running for their lives from pure fear. So it's safe to say avoiding this Nayeli's fierce temper is a must.
Seron while sticking much to himself when alone and helping others when working, despite some seeing him as a closed off and mysterious person. Well, he really isn't. As many find as they come to know him, kindness radiates from his being. From his body gestures to the way he speaks and interacts with others, many never even knowing that this Nayeli has ever even fought in any war. Let alone be conditioned enough to take another's life, he seems far too nice to ever do such a thing. But he has taken hundreds if not thousands of people's lives in his own lifetime. Still that is something he keeps hidden. Never one for bringing up the past or recalling the great tales of the past, the bloody battles that he was a part of. Instead this Nayeli is one that focuses on the present, living more in the moment then looking back. Why? Because looking back makes him sad, and to put it simply, he hates that. Rarely does he look to the future but when doing so, Seron always remains realistic in his ideals. While hoping for something is a good mindset to have, in his view, there can always be too much of a good thing.
While things can be good for a long time, rarely has Seron ever found that to be the case over his lifetime. And with those dark days come experience of fighting. Of wars. Horrific battles in which he killed and shot down anyone who stood in his way. The Nayeli does not speak of these days, months, years even of his life. But when anyone asks, you may see any smile he has on his face disappear and his eyes reflect a rather pensive nature. It is only those that know of this man as 'Striker', they are the rare few that know of his rather darker side. Ruthless and merciless to any who dare place harm upon his kin, a one hit killer, the warrior who never misses his shot. No matter how far, no matter how impossible it may seem, he always hits his mark. Never smiling during these times, it is the main reason why, to those that know that nickname. That he is so feared by any who remember it. And those that are told of this man, are informed of a heartless creature, without one bit of remorse and a blank expression on his face as he kills one being after another. Thus they are all very surprised, when they meet the upbeat and kind man and not the heartless killer they expect. But as it is said, it is never wise to judge a book by its cover.
Soft. That is how he is described by friends. In his actions, speech, everything really. Voice gentle, hushed and a little higher in pitch than many may expect for a male's but this doesn't seem to bother him. A caramel like tone that changes ever so subtly with each emotion that this Nayeli comes to express. This smoothness in his voice not only carried over from his speech but into his voice when singing as well. Despite how rarely it occurs, unlike others who's voice changes when intoned his remains extremely similar. Some say heavenly, others say a voice that could just send you to sleep. But this gentle sound also makes Seron an extremely good liar and easily able to deceive those around him when need be. Of course, he tries to avoid doing this when ever possible. However if irritated enough, or simply around those he doesn't trust or perhaps dislikes, Seron will have very little problem lying and/or tricking that person into believing what he wants them to hear. The Nayeli isn't fond of doing this, but it's certainly a handy skill to have.
Despite being a strong willed individual and very kind to those he meets, when anything romantic comes along this seems to be where he falls short of the mark. Having had very few encounters of the sort, the one word used for Seron (even by himself) in these situations is a simple one. Shy. Perhaps even more reserved and withdrawn then normal, he is never one to flirt and if he does, it's usually because he's had one too many drinks that evening. He's just a hopeless romantic really. Nonetheless, while useless on the dating front and mostly totally unaware of those that may be crushing on him. There is something Seron sees the effects of and it's because of this, that his friends seem to see him as their own personal ray of sunshine. His smile. One bright enough when happy to light up a room, or cheer someone up just by seeing it. Pure and unclouded by other emotions, when he's happy it very clearly shows. Naturally all emotions run their course and while most of the time this Nayeli is very content with his existence, even he has his bad days.
When he's having a terrible day, there’s not much anyone can do to stop it from happening. It's very very obvious, harsh breezes blow around his being and even the slightest wrong word or action can have a very unhappy Seron glaring down at you. It's over the years that both friends and strangers have commented that, even when not on a bad day. When this Nayeli isn't smiling, he seems to be appear rather irritated almost angry. Which, can and has lead to quite a few misunderstandings in the past. Because of this, Seron tends to try and maintain a softer expression when out and about. Really, he's not trying to scare anyone. He's just like that honest! Regardless, his off days are just that, it is heavily advised even by his mother to steer clear of him on these days and let him rage and stew. He'll let it out eventually. A very obvious fact, horrible day or not, never try to wake this Nayeli up too early. This man enjoys his sleep and will be dammed if you will make him go anywhere before he's ready to get up, attempting this will get you flung across the room into a wall, a harsh glare and a sarcastic archer for the remainder of the day towards the unfortunate soul who tried this. So, just don't.
Overall Seron is a complex individual, and much like most people it will take anyone quite a while before you get to know him truly as a person. Nonetheless, he is a kind soul at heart, a hopeless romantic to dreams of love but knows it's better to not hope for such a thing and yet on top of all this. A ruthless warrior who will cut down any who dare harm his kin, or homeland. He is truly a mixed bag and while all these happy emotions are presented at the forefront to those around him, do not be fooled. His life is not all sunshine and happiness, there is darkness there, a despair and hopelessness that he hides from terrible events and wars long since ended. Utterly self-conscious of himself, and his worth to both his race and his loved ones. While he may smile, there is a war constantly raging inside this man's head, always fighting for dominance between simply hiding away and keeping going. Even so, this Nayeli continues to live his life as he always has. With hope. That one day, things will be better, that one day, peace will come. He may not ever see it in his lifetime and he knows it's foolish to believe. But everyone has their wishes, don't they? And that is exactly the kind of person he is. A dreamer.

Warfare Abilities
Warfare Ability:
- Archer
For as long as he can remember, one of Seron's first memories is being taught how to hold a bow by his father and later by his older brother. Since the age of fifteen Seron has spent the majority of his time honing his skills with a bow. From a very young age it became quite apparent that the young Nayeli had a talent for this weapon and it was due to this skill that he eventually received training from various master Archer's as he grew older. These days if spoken of at all, he is fairly well known as a 'child prodigy' during his younger days and within the last hundred years has simply been content with keeping his skills sharp.

Magic:
- Wind
Like his elven brethren before him, Seron over the many centuries has learned to work alongside nature rather than against it. Bending the air around to his very will, it is a vital part of his very being and has been since a very young age. A light breeze tends to follow him wherever he goes, creating a gentle and peaceful aura. Without it, he would be lost, scared. But alongside it, he feels comfort and a sense of power that pulses through his veins, a force to be reckoned with should he unleash it. With it, he is whole; complete.
