the Echa
-Character Profile
Race: Echa (faerie)
Age: 30
Gender: male
Background:
Áedán’s upbringing was a common one in the palace of the faerie kingdom. Being of noble blood and the oldest son to the king, he had been expected to behave in a manner similar to his father: always proud, loyal to the realm and protective of his kind. He had a tranquil upbringing next to his cousins and his younger sister Brigid, and thus prepared himself for the great responsibility that he knew, one day, he would have to undertake.
However, everything changed on the night of his 18th birthday. As the young boy now turned man decided that he wanted to spend this birthday amidst the commoners of his own kind, he sealed his fate. That night he had gone to the capital and there, in a pub, decided to drink the night away with his cousins and his closest friends.
There had been guards, of course, but the guards could not have imagined what would happen. Nobody could, for that matter. For when he went to the back of the pub in the pitch black of night, a young echa lady in hand, and started kissing her and disrobing her, he felt a thud in his head. What happened later, he could not remember, either because of the pints of ale he had already drank or because of the hit. All he knew, when he woke up, was that we would never be free again.
He was taken by four gui men in dark robes, who had transported him through the nights of many days to their realm, guiar. There, Áedán had been sold to one owner after the other, as a part of what is nowadays commonly referred to as the gui slave trade. So for years he worked the land of infamous gui lords who were all ignorant to their worker’s noble lineage. Áedán Eydis had now become a faerie slave by the name of Jahar. And that was all his owners cared to know about him.
The eve of his 30th birthday he decided that he would escape, once and for all. He had already tried to in the past, and he had been punished for it. But as he heard from the commoners that his mother, the Queen of Echar, was ill and approaching her last days, he had to try once more. And so he managed to escape under the dim light, stealing a horse from the Gui lord, and rushing through the lowlands like he had never done.
This story finds him arriving at Echar, making his way to the palace and, hopefully, to his kin. But will they believe that he is who he says he is? Will he even be remembered?
Personality:
During his past life he was extroverted, very funny, lighthearted and a good friend. He was somewhat proud, but what else could be expected of a future king? Still, he believed in the well-being of his race and, although he was only an adolescent, he pictured himself being a good and righteous king when the time came.
But after all that he has lived, endured and suffered, he has become bitter towards the guis. He is also colder and tougher, and he believes that he will never be able to be the sweet and naïve boy he once was. However, there is still kindness in him, and unexplainable amounts of love and respect for his family. He just wished that he could leave the past behind.
Deep down inside, and to his dismay, he is also somewhat vengeful; he wishes that the guis could suffer all that he suffered for more than 10 years.
